Tarshea Smith is a former food service worker in Leo O’Donovan Hall on the Georgetown University campus. She became one of the leaders of the successful 2012 effort to win union representation by the Georgetown food service workers employed by the Aramark Corporation. Following the union’s certification she was elected as a shop steward. She has since taken a leave from her food service work to become an organizer for UNITE HERE, the union of food service and hospitality workers. Tarshae is a working mother who has developed leadership skills in the effort to win dignity for Washington’s food service workers.
