Professor Aminatta Forna – Honorary Doctor of Letters

On July 1, Professor Aminatta Forna was made an Honorary Doctor of Letters by the University of Aberdeen, where her father – the subject of her 2001 investigative memoir The Devil that Danced on the Water – had studied medicine in the 1960’s. She also gave the graduation address, the theme of which was curiosity. ‘Curiosity isn’t what separates us from the animals; it is what separates us from the machines.’
