On October 19th, 2023, Lannan Center director Aminatta Forna gave the opening keynote speech at the ‘Reclaiming the Narrative’ symposium at NYU Accra in Accra, Ghana. The symposium aimed to examine how Africans conceptualize themselves in today’s world and how literature both plays a part in creating a nation and aiding in a conceptualization of self.
