The Winner of 2025 National Book Award for Fiction – Lannan Visiting Chair Rabih Alameddine!

On November 19th, 2025, Lannan Visiting Chair Rabih Alameddine‘s novel The True True Story of Raja the Gullible (and His Mother) won the honor of being the 2025 National Book for Fiction!
NPR quoted Alameddine’s acceptance speech: “…he thanked his agent, his editor and early readers of his work. He also thanked his psychiatrist, his drug dealers and “all gastrointestinal doctors.”
“I guarantee you that I wouldn’t have been able to write a single word in the last 10 years without their help,” he said. “There would have been no movement.”
Alameddine was previously a National Book Award for Fiction finalist in 2014 for his novel, An Unnecessary Woman.
