Suhail Shadoud

Suhail Shadoud was born in Syria. He is the author of the bilingual book entitled Burning in the Past Tense (Beirut: Ashkal Alwan, The Lebanese Society for the Plastic Arts, 2005), a bilingual collection of poetic narratives on contemporary Syria and the US. He has worked as a translator and editor at various institutions, including MERIP, Rua'a Mughayira(Alternative Views); Cairo. He has taught Arabic at Georgetown University, the Middle East Institute and The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies. Suhail is a graduate of the schools of dental medicine from the University of Damascus and New York University. He currently resides in New York City where he practices medicine and teaches in the Middle Eastern Asian Languages and Cultures Department at Columbia University.
