Etel Adnan

Etel Adnan is an Arab-American poet, writer and painter. who has studied Philosophy at U.C. Berkeley and Harvard. -Her novel "Sitt Marie Rose" has been regularly taught in some 30 universities and colleges for the last twenty years. Some of her poems have been put to music (and performed in various festivals) by famous composers such as Tania Leon, Henry Treadgill, Gavin Bryars, Annea Lockwood, Zad Multaka and Hans Gruber. She's also a playright: "The actress" has been performed in Paris, "Like a Christmas Tree" in San Francisco and Dusseldorf, and next october in Beirut. She collaborated with Robert Wilson, writing a section of his nine hours opera "Civil warS", performed in Bobigny/Paris in l985. She lives in Sausalito, California.
